We hope your first week(s) of school went well!

In the spirit of knowledge capture and the sharing of resources and best practices, we want to know: what lesson(s) did you learn during your first weeks of school?  If you had to pass one tip/lesson onto a first-year adviser, what would you want them to know?  We are asking this question to both returning advisers as well as first-year advisers, so leave your ideas!
