Jessica Fegely – College Adviser at Manheim Central HS

1) My biggest joy today was getting one of my ESL students completely finished with all of her applications.  It has taken us a VERY long time to get to this point, but she has finally realized how far she has come.  She was so happy to be completely finished and asked to call her dad (which I have met with already) to tell him the good news.  This student made my entire weekend because she was extremely thankful for working with her almost everyday since she decided she wanted to go to college.

2) [A student] has been ‘meaning to apply’ for quite some time, but just never really got around to it.   When I called him down to my office, he actually seemed pretty excited that someone would take the time out of their day to help him navigate through the application process.  As we sat down to fill out the application, he said he was thankful that someone cared enough to ‘force him’ to fill out this application.  He said he realized that a college degree was extremely important, but too overwhelming to complete alone.
